Drive your lunar rover 2,400 km from Tranquility Base to Shackleton Station at the lunar south pole. A 90-Earth-day journey across one of the most hostile environments ever attempted.
Reach Shackleton Station with at least one crew member alive. Your score depends on crew survived, resources remaining, and how fast you made the journey.
Manage four resources: Power (rover battery), Oxygen (life support), Food (crew nutrition), and Morale (the hardest one to fix).
Crises will test you: micrometeorite strikes, dust storms, CO₂ scrubber failures, crew conflicts, solar flares, and the 14-day Lunar Night.
Every crisis gives you 2–3 options. Some require supplies you may not have. There's rarely a perfect answer — only less bad ones.
Lunar Trail is a survival strategy game inspired by the 1971 classic Oregon Trail. Where pioneers once crossed 3,200 km of American wilderness, your crew crosses 2,400 km of airless lunar regolith.
The challenges are different — no rivers to ford, but solar panels to charge. No dysentery, but oxygen scrubber failures. No hostile weather, but lunar nights that last 14 Earth days and drop to -173°C.
Every decision matters. Ration your power. Watch your crew's morale. And whatever you do — don't miss a charging window.
Name your crew of four. You are the Mission Commander.
You have $2,400 in mission credits. Spend wisely — any unspent credits carry over to waypoint shops.
Select your difficulty. This affects how often crises occur and how hard they hit.
